Questions and answers

Before you call, the usual questions

Twenty answers, grouped by booking, pricing, repairs and service area. If yours isn't here, the phone is the quickest route to an answer.

Booking

How do I book a repair?

Two ways: call us Monday through Saturday, or use the three-step booking form found throughout this site. The form asks for the appliance, the problem and your contact details, and then we phone you to settle on a time. On a call, the booking is made during that same conversation.

How early should I call for a same-day visit?

The earlier the better. Calls and form requests that reach us in the morning have the strongest chance of a visit that same day, because the route still has room. Later requests sometimes fit; otherwise you get the next available opening. Same-day visits run Monday through Saturday, and we close on Sundays.

Do I need the model number to book?

No, but it helps. With the model number, your technician can confirm which parts that machine uses and bring anything unusual. Read it to us during the call, or type it in the make-and-model field of the booking form. If the tag is missing or unreadable, we track the information down on site.

Can I book on a Sunday?

The online form accepts requests every day, Sunday included, but nobody answers the phone or drives out on Sunday. A request sent then is waiting for us first thing Monday, and we call you back to confirm, which keeps a Monday same-day visit within reach.

What should I do with a leaking appliance while I wait?

Shut off the water to it: the valve under the sink for a dishwasher, the hot and cold taps behind a washer, or the small valve feeding the refrigerator line. Switch off the breaker if water is anywhere near the outlet. Towels and a shallow pan buy time until your technician arrives.

Pricing

How much is the diagnostic, and what happens to it?

The diagnostic visit costs $95. When you approve the repair your technician recommends, that amount comes off the repair price. If you decide against the repair, the $95 covers the visit and the written diagnosis, and you owe nothing else. Either way, you know the cost of the visit before anyone arrives.

Are the prices on this site quotes?

No. Each figure marks where a category of repair begins; refrigerator repairs, for example, start from $259. Your exact price comes from the written estimate your technician prepares after the diagnostic, and nothing is repaired until you agree to it. If the estimate isn't what you hoped, you can stop there.

Who can get up to $18 off?

Seniors 65 and older, veterans, and active-duty military households. The savings come off the repair price rather than the diagnostic. Check the box on the booking form or mention it when you call, and your technician applies it on the estimate, so you see the reduced figure before you approve anything.

Is there a reduction for a second appliance?

Yes. When a second appliance is checked on the same visit, its diagnostic is $10 less. Each appliance gets its own written estimate, so you can repair one now and decide on the other later. Mention it when you book, or tick the box on the form, so we plan enough time at your home.

What if the repair isn't worth doing?

Sometimes the numbers don't add up, for instance a costly control board on a dishwasher near the end of its life. Your technician will say so plainly and still show you the estimate, so you can compare it with the price of a replacement. If you pass on the repair, the diagnostic is the only charge.

Repairs

Which appliances do you repair?

Refrigerators and freezers in every layout, including built-in models; front-load and top-load washers and stacked laundry centers; gas and electric dryers; ranges, wall ovens and cooktops, gas or electric; dishwashers; and ice makers inside the refrigerator or freezer. We handle household appliances only, in houses, condos, apartments and townhomes.

What don't you work on?

Sealed-system refrigerator repairs, which means compressors, refrigerant leaks and recharging. Also commercial refrigeration, furnaces and air conditioners, microwaves, and small countertop appliances. If the diagnosis points to one of these, we say so right away and help you weigh repair against replacement, so you don't spend more chasing the wrong fix.

Will my repair be finished on the first visit?

Often. Common parts like drain pumps, igniters, thermal fuses, door switches, valves and heating elements travel in the vehicle. Control boards and model-specific parts sometimes have to be ordered; when that happens, we tell you the expected timing and return to install the part once it comes in.

Is the repair covered afterward?

Yes. Every completed repair comes with a written warranty, and its terms are on the paperwork you keep. If the same fault comes back, call us with the date of the original visit and we'll take it from there. Keep that paperwork somewhere you'll find it, such as a kitchen drawer.

Why do my glasses come out of the dishwasher cloudy?

In most of our area the tap water is extremely soft, well under one grain per gallon on the Everett supply. Detergent doses printed for hard water leave too much soap behind, which etches glass over time and can leave suds in the tub. Try less detergent first; if the film persists, the dishwasher may have a heating or rinse problem worth checking.

Service area

Which towns do you serve?

Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Edmonds, Mill Creek, Mukilteo, Shoreline, Bothell, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and the south end of Everett, along with unincorporated pockets between them such as Martha Lake, Alderwood Manor, Esperance, Picnic Point and Silver Firs. Each town has its own page with local details.

Is there a travel or distance fee?

None. The same price list applies in Lake Forest Park as in Lynnwood, and the diagnostic doesn't rise with mileage. What distance can affect is timing: on a packed day, homes at the edge of the route may get a later arrival window than those near Scriber Lake.

How far are you from my town?

Off-peak, Mountlake Terrace and Brier are roughly 6 to 12 minutes from central Lynnwood; Edmonds, Mill Creek, Shoreline and Lake Forest Park about 10 to 18; Mukilteo, Bothell and Kenmore somewhere between 12 and 24; south Everett 14 to 26 depending on the neighborhood. These are estimates, and I-5 traffic changes them.

Do you cover the King County towns?

Yes. Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore and the King County side of Bothell are all part of our route. Power there comes from Seattle City Light or Puget Sound Energy instead of Snohomish PUD, and water mostly from Seattle's Tolt supply, which matters a little for dishwashers and washers but not at all for the price.

What about north Everett or Seattle?

Our regular route reaches south Everett: Silver Lake, Mariner and the Everett Mall area. North Everett and the Seattle neighborhoods past Shoreline are outside the area we list. Call with your address anyway; if we can't reach you, we'll say so on the spot rather than book a visit we can't keep.
