About us
Named for a lake in the middle of Lynnwood
Scriber Lake Appliance Repair is locally owned and works out of Lynnwood. We fix the machines that run a household's kitchen and laundry, and we try to be clear about everything else.

A lake, a homestead, a name
Before Lynnwood had its name, a Danish immigrant named Peter Schreiber filed on 160 acres here. That was 1888, and the patent came through in 1891. A small lake sat at the northeast corner of his land, and it became known as Schreiber's Lake. Over time the spelling settled into Scriber, though some sources still write Schriber.
Today the lake anchors Scriber Lake Park, roughly two dozen acres of wetland, ponds and woods in the middle of the city, with a boardwalk across the marsh to a floating dock. We chose the name because it belongs to Lynnwood and nowhere else, which suits a business that starts each day here.
How a visit works
You call or book online, and we confirm a time. Your technician arrives, hears the story, then tests rather than guesses. Before anything is taken apart for a repair, you get a written estimate. If you approve it, the work usually happens then and there, since the common parts are already in the vehicle. If you don't, the diagnostic is all you pay. Finished repairs carry a written warranty.
What we fix and what we pass on
On the kitchen side, that means refrigerators, freezers and the ice makers built into them, dishwashers, and ranges, cooktops and wall ovens running on gas or electricity. In the laundry room it means washers of every style, stacked units included, and dryers of both fuel types.
We don't do sealed-system refrigerator work such as compressors or refrigerant, and we also leave commercial refrigeration, furnaces and air conditioning, microwaves and small countertop appliances to others. Wiring inside your walls belongs to an electrician: we'll test the outlet and tell you what we find, but we won't open it up. Hearing all this at the first visit spares you a second bill.
The towns we cover
From central Lynnwood we head west and northwest to Edmonds, Woodway and Mukilteo; south to Mountlake Terrace, Shoreline and Lake Forest Park; east and southeast to Brier, Kenmore and Bothell; and north to Mill Creek and the south end of Everett. The farthest of those is roughly 25 minutes away off-peak, and none of them costs extra. That spread crosses two counties, three electric utilities and two main water supplies, each with its own effect on appliances, from the very soft Everett water in Snohomish County to the older circuits in Shoreline's postwar houses.
Common questions
Are you a franchise or part of a chain?
No. Scriber Lake Appliance Repair is locally owned and based in Lynnwood, with no national brand behind the name. When you call, you reach the business that sends the technician, and the person who diagnoses your appliance is the one who repairs it. Decisions about your visit get made here, not at a distant call center.
Why do you name the jobs you won't do?
Because finding out on a second visit costs you time and another fee. If a refrigerator needs a compressor or a fault turns out to be in the house wiring, we say so during the diagnostic, explain what we found, and help you choose between a repair elsewhere and a replacement. A clear no on day one beats a vague maybe.
How do you keep repairs to one visit?
By carrying the parts that fail most: door switches and lid locks, drain pumps, inlet valves, igniters, bake elements, thermal fuses, defrost heaters and similar items. When we know the model number ahead of time, read to us on the phone or entered in the booking form, we can check whether anything less common is needed before arriving.
Do you work in apartments and condos?
Yes. We work in houses, townhomes, apartments and condos across our towns, and stacked laundry in a closet or a dishwasher in a galley kitchen is routine. If you rent, check with your landlord or property manager first, since many leases put appliance repairs on the owner. For laundry closets, we need room to pull the machines out.
